Concrete PROTECT

  • Single component, water-based solution
  • Waterproofing
  • Prevents efflorescence and weathering as well as algae
  • Prevents the penetration of pollutants into the concrete
  • Transparent, invisible
  • Hydrophobic beading
  • Protection from frost, snow and ice (resistant to commonly used de-icers)
  • Highly abrasion resistant

Nanolia Concrete Protect™

Nanolia Concrete Protect is a truly remarkable, easy to apply and environmentally-friendly building material based on innovative Nanolia silicate technology. It is one of the highest performance forms of liquid glass, known in Germany as “Kalium Wasser Glass”.

Nanolia Concrete Protect penetrates deeply (some 3mm – 4mm) below the surface, reacting with the calcium present in the substrate to form an incredibly hard silicate structure that reinforces stone, masonry and concrete. It closes the pores and protects the surface with an extremely high resistance to chemical attack and abrasion. Treated surfaces are waterproof but remain breathable.

Suitable for all types of absorbent mineral substrates such as concrete, paving stones, floor screed, sand and cementitious materials,  Nanolia Concrete Protect is odourless, free from solvents and easy to use. The coating dries out over 10-15 year and is permanent. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it performs best in cementitious products with high calcium content.  In particular, because it is an impregnating, hydro-phobic sealer it also protects porous building materials such as brick, tiles, concrete and paving against efflorescence.

Compared to Nanolia Stone Guard, It provides extra protection outdoors where freeze-thaw cycles may be a significant issue.

Compared to Stone Guard:

  • Higher resistance to chemicals (especially acids)
  • Penetrates deeper into the substrates because of lower viscosity
  • Seals against water pressure to 0.3 bar
  • Suitable for less absorbent surfaces
  • Requires calcium in the substrate for best results
  • Only hydrophobic, not oleophobic
  • Does not form a surface film
  • No visible change in the appearance of the treated surfaces

Applications:

  • Protection of old and new concrete floors to all kinds of corrosive liquids such as salt water, water, wastewater, sulfuric acid, etc …
  • Protection of concrete walls in tunnel s
  • Prevent flaking of the surface by alternate freezing and thawing
  • Suitable for garages, driveways, roof terraces, flat roofs, etc …
  • Protection of concrete floors in animal enclosures against bacteria, mould and fungi
  • Crack-bridging against water penetration
  • Bonding of porous surfaces
  • Primer to prevent paint chipping
  • Waterproofing cement joints
  • Protection and repair of pipelines and water storage containers
  • Sealing of the outer surfaces of basements and walls
  • For all areas with high chemical and mechanical stress

Always test a small sample to ensure that the desired result is achieved before proceeding with the main project. If in doubt, do not proceed.

Application temperatures between +5 ° C and 50 ° C. Maximum humidity 85%. The surface must be dry, clean and free from grease and oil. Dust and loose residues of plaster and cement must be removed thoroughly. Apply sparingly in two thin coats at an interval of 10-15 minutes to complete the chemical bonding process. The “window of opportunity” is 5 minutes. The job can be done by brush, roller or spray but do test your technique first to ensure that you are able to avoid puddling from over application. Remember the “less is more” rule.

The surfaces should be protected for 24 hours after treatment before exposure to rain or water condensation. Within this period avoid close proximity or contact. The drying time can be accelerated by ventilation.

Chemical resistance increases progressively over the first 4 weeks. Avoid the use of  alkaline floor cleaners during the first 4 weeks. Adjacent mineral surfaces such as glass or tiles should be protected against splashes. Avoid contact with aluminium. Wash off any impurities immediately with water. Application equipment can be cleaned with water.

If possible, use undiluted. For highly absorbent surfaces it may be advisable to dilute the solution with water up to a factor of 1:1. Details of processing are highly dependent on the coated surface. We are happy to advise you on this issue.

Depending on absorbency of the surface, consumption is about 100gr.-350 gr / m².
1 kg bottle, 10 kg cans, 30 kg canister. Other container sizes may be possible depending on the transport route and method of transportation.
At least 24 months in cool storage in the original sealed containers. Protect from frost.

Disposal: Empty containers can be disposed of with household waste. Containers with remaining contents must be disposed as hazardous waste in compliance with local regulations.
