GRAFFITI GUARD FOR NON-POROUS SURFACES™

Graffiti Guard for Non-Porous Surfaces is a permanent, high-performance water-based protection for absorbent mineral surfaces such as concrete, masonry and natural stone. Free from organic solvents, it creates an invisible hydrophobic, oleophobic, breathable and weather-stable surface that also impedes the growth of algae, lichens and mosses.

The perfect defense against graffiti, Nanolia’s Graffiti Guard for Non-porous Surfaces is a two-component, transparent satin sealing coat that can be used on a variety of surfaces.  Based on chemical nanotechnology, it provides outstanding weather resistance and prevents the fading of the underlying colour, retaining its satin sheen over a great many years.  Colour smudges are not absorbed through the sealed surface and leave no lasting damage.

Surfaces sealed with Graffiti Guard for Non-porous Surfaces can be easily and swiftly cleaned using just a small amount of water and without the use of special cleaning agents. This “easy-to-clean” property greatly extends the working life of the graffiti protection by reducing the need for vigorous cleaning or abrasive cleaning agents.

Serious graffiti attacks with various products favored of vandals can be easily removed with Nanolia AG GRAFFITI REMOVAL LIQUID or AG GRAFFITI REMOVAL GEL leaving no residues and without affecting the protective layer.

An incredibly versatile coating with amazing coverage, Graffiti Guard for Non-porous Surfaces can be used on aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper, magnesium, ceramics, CSF and mineral surfaces such as marble and granite. Surfaces previously treated with other coatings are refreshed, sealed and permanently protected.

Note: For uncoated porous mineral surfaces we recommend the use of Graffiti Guard for Porous Surfaces .

Always test a small sample to ensure that the desired result is achieved before proceeding with the main project. If in doubt, do not proceed.

Surfaces must be thoroughly clean and dry, fat-free and free of loose material. The base surface to be treated must be thoroughly cleaned, dry and free from fat/oil, and also free of any silicone, wax or polish traces using Nanolia PreClean. Pre-treatment with Acetone is not sufficient. For Aluminium and Magnesium surfaces Nanolia PreClean M1 is recommended. Nanolia Graffiti Guard protective coatings are designed to seal non-porous or previously-coated surfaces. We recommend the use of a high-quality emulsion paint as an undercoat to provide the desired final colour. (e.g. SIKKENS Alphacaso). The undercoat must be completely dry before coating with Nanolia Graffiti Guard topcoats. Nanolia Graffiti Guard topcoats bond permanently and irreversibly with the underlying colour layer.

Even though Nanolia Graffiti Guard topcoats are very thin and almost invisible, we recommend that you create test panels to check any changes that it may make to the surface appearance, in particular colour, before proceeding with the actual job. It may be necessary to use a slightly different undercoat if a specific final colour is required.

Apply undiluted. The ambient temperature and that of the material to be treated must be above 5 ° C. Best results are obtained between 15°C and 25°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight or surfaces where the temperature is rising. High humidity after application accelerates the drying process.

Body and hardener should be mixed in the ratio 5.5: 1 and stirred in. It is recommended that the mixture be allowed to rest for about 15 minutes after addition of the curing agent. The maximum usable time is approximately 4 hours. Even though the mix may look unchanged for as much as 24 hours, it is no longer usable after that time. Close the container where the hardener is located immediately after having removed the required amount.

Application can be done with a fine-pored foam roller, using smooth and even strokes. It is important to note that “less is more” in application. For best results, the coating should be applied thinly. The surface should be coated completely with Nanolia Graffiti Guard topcoat without leaving any gaps. Avoid applying too thick a layer order because a yellowish flecked appearance might appear.

Foreign bodies included during the drying process (insects, etc…) can be polished away after drying. Touching up is possible at any time within 24 hours of the first application.

After application, chemical resistance and surface hardness increase steadily over a period of several days and the process is complete after a drying time of 7-10 days.

The equipment used can be cleaned with commercial thinner.

The application process is dependent on the surface to be treated. We will be pleased to advise on request.
